Southeastern Grocers is kicking off football season with a sweepstakes centering on the SE Grocers Rewards loyalty program the retailer launched in July.
Cardholders are automatically entered from Aug. 22 to Sept. 18 when they spend $20 or buy five SKUs from dozens of eligible brands including Procter & Gamble's Pampers, J.M. Smucker Co.'s Crisco and PepsiCo's Mountain Dew. Purchases of any of the retailer's SE Grocers private label products also qualify. The sweeps awards 100 winners each day with $100 worth of gas station gift cards and another 100 daily winners with 1,000 loyalty points. Southfield, MI-based Prize Logic handles. Radio spots, circular features, email ads, carousel ads on chain home pages, and Facebook and Twitter updates promote the sweeps using a "score free fuel or groceries" message.
In stores, a "Score More Savings" theme appears on endcaps and gondolas stocking snacks and soft drinks from SE Grocers and national brands including Keurig Dr Pepper's Sunkist and Coca-Cola Co.'s Sprite. The retailer also used the theme in a circular distributed in stores from Aug. 22 to Sept. 4 that offered cardholders deals on brands such as Campbell Soup Co.'s Pepperidge Farm, Kraft Heinz Co.'s Oscar Mayer and Coca-Cola's Gold Peak.
Winn-Dixie stores in Northport, AL, and Baton Rouge, LA, and Bi-Lo locations in Cayce and Seneca, SC, activated their sponsorships of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Alabama Crimson Tide, Louisiana State University Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Clemson Tigers, respectively, by hosting tailgating events on Aug. 22 that included gift cards for the first 100 shoppers, sampling and raffles. Twitter updates promoted the events.
