To invent a means of displaying large banners as neatly as possible (without sags, tears, etc.) while enabling fairly simple advertising updates.

Among the P-O-P materials used in Shell Oil's initial spring Bugs Bunny promotion tie-in were such items as pump toppers and pole signs (at left) and window signs and shelf danglers (at right).
