Unilever, Walgreens 'Give H2OPE' Again

Walgreens partnered with Unilever for the second straight summer for a cause campaign that benefits Toronto-based social enterprise/for-profit Me to We and promises clean water to families in need.Dubbed "Give H2OPE to Others," the collaborative effort promises six cents (billed as five gallons of water) to Me to We for each purchase of a Caress, Suave, Axe or Tresemme product at Walgreens or Duane Reade from July 31 through Aug. 27. The purchase of two eligible products in the same transaction triggers a donation of 18 cents (15 gallons). The total donation will not exceed $175,000, according to a news release."Walgreens continues a longstanding commitment of meaningful global corporate citizenship focused on making an impact in the community, environment, workplace and marketplace," Alex Gourlay, co-chief operating officer for Walgreens Boots Alliance, said in the release. "Our participation in 'Give H2OPE to Others' for a second year reflects this mission of making it easy for our customers to take part and help make a difference around the world.""At Unilever, we find brands that are integrating sustainable living into their core purpose are driving success," said Todd Tillemans, corporate executive vice president, president customer development, Unilever.Me to We's trackyourimpact.com promotional site, accessible from a walgreens.com microsite dedicated to the effort, allows consumers who make a purchase to enter the on-pack code from eligible products to receive detailed information about their donation.The retailer is using various other tactics to get the word out, including:an ad on the walgreens.com home page that links to the dedicated microsite.a feature in its Aug. 7 circular promoting special pricing and incentives for the brands' SKUs.a dedicated endcap that stocks the eligible items.a dedicated dump bin that stocked Suave Tropical Paradise deodorant the week of Aug. 7.social media (Facebook and Twitter) updates.a video posted to Walgreens' YouTube channel that is also embedded on the walgreens.com microsite.
