Albertsons Cos. is partnering with Smithfield Foods to stage a “Ticket to the Trophy” sweepstakes across 13 banners, awarding 78 winners sports-themed prizes.

From Aug. 19 through Oct. 6, Just for U loyalty members who download and redeem one or more participating Smithfield product offer located under the Ticket to the Trophy category within the “Special Events” of respective chain mobile applications or websites, will automatically receive one entry into a random drawing for each offer redeemed (up to three per transaction). If three or more offers are redeemed in one transaction, participants will automatically receive six entries into the drawing.

Each participating banner will award six prizes, including one grand prize (13 total) and five first prizes (65 total).

Grand prize winners will each get one two-night/three-day trip to their choice of the following sporting events:

  • the College Football Playoff National Championship game in January 2020,
  • Ford EcoBoost 400 in November 2019, or
  • Kentucky Derby currently scheduled for May 2, 2020.

Trips include tickets to selected event, transportation and hotel accommodations plus $500 in spending money. First-prize winners each receive one $500 StubHub gift card.

Support for the sweeps spanned in-store shelf talkers positioned near participating products from Smithfield Foods' Smithfield, Nathan’s Famous and Eckrich; multiple Facebook and Twitter updates at select chains; digital coupons such as $1.00 off Nathan’s Famous hot dogs; multiple circular features; and a Big Book of Savings feature. On respective chain websites, a branded landing page additionally plugged the sweeps and Just for U savings.

Participating retailers include Albertsons, Amigos, Star Market, Pavilions, Safeway, Tom Thumb, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Acme, Randalls, Carrs, Market Street, United Supermarkets, Vons and Super Saver.
