Amazon has made the Amazon Fresh food delivery service it offers across some 2,000 cities in the U.S. and elsewhere free for Prime members, removing the $14.99 monthly fee it was charging for the program.
Walgreens and Jenny Craig will bring health and weight management services to Walgreens stores across the U.S. With a focus on addressing weight and health management, the partners will open 100 Jenny Craig shops at Walgreens locations nationwide in January 2020. Those stores will offer Jenny Craig’s clinically proven program featuring private one-on-one consultations, a customized menu plan and meal delivery.
During its fiscal 2019 year-end webcast on Oct. 28, Walgreens said it will close the approximately 160 in-store health clinics it operates itself but will keep the 220 clinics that are run by local health systems.
Costco recently began stocking wine and beer advent calendars, each including 24 half-bottles (375 ml) of wine or 24 beer cans, respectively. The beer advent calendar is priced at $59.99 and includes different types of German craft beer, while the wine calendar is priced at $99.99 and spans red, wine and bubbly from around the world. Both SKUs depict festive packaging for the holiday season and were spotted in stores as early as Oct. 1.
Betting on booze to help it gain an edge in the grocery delivery wars, Walmart says over 2,000 stores across 29 states now support the ability to order alcohol online and pick it up in-store, while 200 stores support alcohol delivery.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Walmart has determined that Vudu isn't core to its business and is mulling over a sale of the on-demand video service. Walmart bought Vudu in 2010 for a reported $100 million.

Albertsons Cos. has penned an agreement with Chicago-based point-of-sale marketing technology company Ecrebo to add personalized offers and messages to the nearly 2 billion paper and digital receipts it issues annually by using the tech company’s OnPoint Total Receipt Marketing solution. The offering will apply to Just for U loyalty members at all of the grocer's some 2,200 locations nationwide.
For the second year in a row, Albertsons Cos. has rolled out 100 limited edition seasonal products to its own brands through "Signature Select Seasons" and "Lucerne Seasons." The categories include baking mixes, ciders, ground coffee and coffee pods, sweet and salty snacks, egg nogs, ice cream and seasonal decor.
In addition, Albertsons’ Signature Reserve private label recently expanded, bringing bruschettas, tapenades, arrabiata sauce, espresso pod capsules, maple butter, baking chocolate chunks, among other new SKUs to Albertsons chains’ shelves.
Ahold Delhaize’s Stop & Shop is adding a wing hot bar as part of its Taste of Inspirations private label to 187 locations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey through November. Located in the prepared food area, the wings will come in eight flavors and retail for $7.99 per pound.
