DC Comics enlisted augmented reality mobile application Zappar to offer Walmart shoppers an exclusive experience tied in to the Nov. 17, 2017, theatrical release of Warner Bros.' Justice League.
Participants could take pictures with the heroes of the film and play a "Flying Fox" game during a two-week promotional time period beginning Nov. 7. The next day, DC published a YouTube video promoting the account-specific effort. (See below.) Zappar supported with a Nov. 13 Twitter update linking to the video.
Available in select stores with a Justic League display, the promotion followed several other augmented reality experiences tied to blockbuster films — and a book — playing out at Walmart over the last few years. (See Related Articles at right.)
On walmart.com, a dedicated e-commece shop continues to offer related home videos as well as licensed toys, clothing, costumes and home decor.
