Five Best Walmart Displays: July 2019

Taking a look back among the many in-store displays spotted at Walmart in July, the following five stood out from the rest:Procter & Gamble's Crest earned a dedicated endcap display for the addition of a "gum and sensitivity" formula to its Pro-Health line of toothpastes. The blue and pink endcap signage kit included a large header that touted the product as new and invited shoppers to "wrap your teeth in sensitivity protection," while a shelf strip promised the products "starts working immediately." Shelf trays stocking the SKU each include a product glorifier and large 3D model of a tooth wrapped in a pink material representing the promised protection. In some stores, the shelf trays were instead positioned on a four-way along with other Crest products, including a new "gum care" mouthwash. Taking the idea of using an oversized product model (as previously done by brands such as Edgewell Personal Care's Harry's), E.l.f. Cosmetics placed a giant version of the product applicator wand for its flagship "16-hour camo" concealer to call attention to an endcap in the beauty department stocking various shades of the item as well as related products from the brand.Meanwhile, Harry's brought some excitement to the in-line shelf set by deploying a dark-colored, curved-edge shelf tray to merchandise its new body wash and soap SKUs. The shelf tray organized the products by scent, depicting a representation of each one — shiso, fig and stone — in a color that matched the corresponding product packaging. Price labels identified the items as "new" in July.With back-to-school season in full force in July, Action Alley was full of themed activity. Vi-Jon's Gem-X stood out among all the school-bus-yellow colored displays with a fresh, white-and-blue pallet display stocking its "advanced" hand sanitizer. The display was uniquely configured to include shelves for large- and bulk-sized containers of the products as well as four corner dump bins filled with smaller "on-the-go" containers.In other noteworthy back-to-school activity, Walmart for the first time brought cleaning products into the mix. Using the same type of pallet train deployed during "spring cleaning" season to corral supplies from a variety of brands in Action Alley, the retailer declared that "school time is cleaning time."
