Ahold and Delhaize Complete Merger

Royal Ahold and Delhaize Group are in their first week as a combined company following the completion of their merger over the weekend.After the U.S. Federal Trade Commission gave final clearance late Friday, Ahold chief executive officer Dick Boer and Delhaize Group ceo Frans Muller signed the merger deed on Saturday.The new entity, Ahold Delhaize, already revealed a logo that combines the crown and lion imagery from the companies’ respective logos prior to the merger. A new website hosts an introductory video that also was posted to YouTube. (See below.)The combined company spans 1,990 stores in the U.S. and includes banners Food Lion, Hannaford, Stop & Shop, Giant Food, Giant Food Stores and Martin’s.
