Lowe’s Rolls Out Design Experience for Apple Vision Pro

The Lowe's Style Studio is a virtual home improvement app that uses spatial computing technology and preset styles curated by Lowe's to help customers visualize and design their kitchen using the 3D headset.

Lowe's in February launched Lowe's Style Studio, a virtual home improvement experience designed exclusively for the Apple Vision Pro headset.

Available in the App Store starting Feb. 2, Lowe's Style Studio leverages spatial computing technology to help customers visualize and design their kitchen without leaving home.

The app utilizes the “intuitive input and gesture system” of Apple Vision Pro, which is controlled by a user's eyes and hands, to provide customers an immersive 3D kitchen scene that goes beyond 2D renderings or flat inspirational images, according to a media release.

Users can explore preset styles curated by Lowe's professional designers and customize hundreds of real-world materials, fixtures and appliances — all available at Lowes.com or in stores — to fit their personal taste.

With nearly 80 billion possible combinations, the experience considers the continuous influx of new products and style trends to assist customers in articulating and deciding what design they are looking for, according to Lowe's.

After customers realize their ideal kitchen design, they can transform their plans into style boards and then email, text or AirDrop them to whoever they want (e.g., a significant other, contractor, or interior designer).

In addition, Lowe's Style Studio will soon also allow customers to synchronize their style boards with their Lowes.com account, to make it easier to shop within the Lowe's mobile app.

"This is a transformational moment for kitchen design,” Seemantini Godbole, Lowe's executive vice president, chief digital and information officer, said in the release. “Our customers can now visualize their dream kitchen in their own space. ... Lowe's Style Studio immerses our customers in a cutting-edge design experience enabled by spatial computing that will make home improvement easier than ever.”

Lowe's Style Studio was built by the home improvement retailer’s Innovation Labs, a team focused on imagining, exploring and accelerating the future of home improvement through emerging technologies, as well as core members of the Lowe's mobile technology team, per the release.

This experience is the Innovation Labs’ latest development aimed at reducing friction for customers and associates. The organization has developed other features like Measure Your Space, a room measurement tool for the iPhone; experiences like Lowe's Product Expert, a custom GPT that delivers home improvement product recommendations via generative AI; and its interactive AR-enabled “digital twin” store.
